Twelve people were arrested on Monday night for violating curfew orders in Isebania and Kehancha areas of Kuria West, Migori County.

Kuria West sub county police commander Cleti Kimaiyo stated that nine people were arrested in the Mali-Ngumu area of the township of Isebania, with the remaining three apprehended in Kehancha town.

The police boss said the 12 are set to be arraigned on Tuesday.

He stated that the police will continue with their crackdown, warning the public not to break the rules.

This comes just two days after six police officers were arrested in Kisumu for contravening curfew protocols.

They were arrested on Saturday evening at 8pm at Black Perl bar and restaurant in Nyamasaria shopping centre. They all appeared drunk before being taken to Kondele police station.

According to a police report, five of the officers were from Nyagacho police station in Kericho while one was from Central Police Station in Nakuru.

According to a report from the Migori county commissioner’s office, at least 100 people are apprehended in Migori County every day for violating curfew orders.
