A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer was among four people arrested for allegedly kidnapping a businessman at Kiawara Trading Centre in Nyeri County.
On Friday, 18 December, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) revealed that officers based in Nyeri had carried out an operation to arrest the criminals.
The detectives stated that the four lured the businessman via his employee’s cell phone. After arriving where the gang’s vehicle was waiting, the victim was bundled inside and taken towards Nyeri Town.
An abduction report was filed and the detectives went on to pursue the kidnappers.
“The suspects are in lawful custody awaiting further investigations and arraignment, while the vehicle has since been detained,” the DCI stated.
The case comes a few weeks after an alleged abduction of Thika businessman, Julius Gitau, where the police have raised questions about the incident.
