7 Candidates Shortlisted For Nairobi Assembly Speaker, Alex Ole Magelo Among Them

The former Nairobi County Assembly speaker Alex Magelo is among the seven candidates that Jubilee party has released for the position of the speaker.

Earlier today morning the Nairobi MCAs were summoned by the party secretary-general, Tuju ahead of Friday’s election.

This came after the now former speaker, Beatrice Elachi resigned two days ago citing life threatening incidences.

The 7 shortlisted candidates include: Odingo Odhiambo Washington, Mike Obonyo Guoro, Allan Chacha Mang’era, Kennedy Kokeyo Ng’ondi, Benson Mutura Kangara, Abdi Ali Abdi and Magelo Alex.

As per Standing Order 7, the election of the speaker shall be by secret ballot. Currently the seat is temporarily held by John Kamangu.
