It has been a tough week for Barcelona’s player and now sporting director Eric Abidal.
The former player was called in for an urgent meeting by club president Josep Mariea Bartomeu after being publicly criticised by Lionel Messi over comments made about Ernesto Valverde’s sacking.
And it is not just their star player that the Frenchman has upset – it is potentially their future manager as well.
But Abidal took a swipe at his former team-mate this week, telling Sport: “There was no offer.

Messi caused a stir by criticising his former teammate Abidal on Tuesday, saying in a post on instagram that the club’s hierarchy, not the players, should take responsibility for sacking Ernesto Valverde last month.
