The DP’s opposition to the handshake and the BBI report has clearly put him on a collision course with President Uhuru Kenyatta, the architect of the initiative, setting the stage for a nasty political divorce.

There are many signs that the relationship between the President and his deputy had irredeemably deteriorated.

Yesterday, GSU invaded Dp Ruto farm in Ruai and demolished the fence erected. It’s been an all-out war as the divorce between the two principals gets messy.

As the Government of Kenya continues its war against graft it has allegedly started repossessing 1600 acres of land associated with Dp William Ruto in Ruai, Nairobi county. The land allocated in the late 90s was part of Nairobi Sewerage.

The deputy president has not been a stranger to land fraud allegations, eg the Weston land saga, Langatta school land and he was acquitted in 2011 of fraud charges following the 2001 sale of land to Kenya Pipeline Corporation (KPC) that the State contested was hived off Ngong Forest just to mention but a few.

“Kenyans are carrying a heavy load of corruption. One name that keeps coming up in most of the cases of fraud, corruption, theft of public land, division of public funds and violation of procurement and tender rules is Deputy President Mr William Ruto,” a statement once said by John Mbadi.

As deputy president William Ruto reiterates his stance that the 2022 elections will be a contest between dynasties and hustlers, the question is whether government move in repossessing public land and fighting graft is aimed at killing his presidential ambitions come 2022.
