An anti-stock theft police officer was killed in an ambush by bandits in Chemoe, Baringo North Sub-County.

Sources indicated that he and other officers had gone to collect firewood near the police barracks before being ambushed by gunmen armed with AK 47 rifles.

The officer tried to flee the incident, but he was brutally shot in the back. Two other officers sustained minor injuries and were able to return to the camp. The surprise attack comes months after the killed police officer escaped a near-death experience.

He and five other police officers managed to survive after a police lorry of 12 police officers was swept by floodwaters in River Kagir, Baringo County.

However, after being swept by the terrifying floodwaters for more than 200 meters, the officer managed to hold on to a twig. Unfortunately, the incident led to the deaths of the other seven police officers.
