President Uhuru Kenyatta on March 8th attended the beyond zero marathons.
Beyond Zero Half-Marathon, an initiative of First lady Margaret Kenyatta was launched in 2014.
Beyond Zero has the overall goal of eliminating all preventable maternal and child deaths in Kenya by 2023.
Its major objectives are to raise awareness of the need for good maternal and child health and its relationship to a nation’s strength and prosperity;
Mobilizing funds to support maternal, newborn and child health initiatives and to focus on public attention on the challenges surrounding maternal, newborn and child health in Kenya.
It also majors in Educating women on the need for a healthy lifestyle, e.g. participating in sports, and encouraging them to adopt preventive health strategies.
During this event, the President arrived driving himself while his security besides supporting his wife’s program.
A seemingly jovial Uhuru proceeded to get out of the vehicle before greeting and shaking hands with several Kenyans who took part in the half-marathon.
The president was seen making a 2kilometer run alongside other leaders including Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, Kalonzo Musyoka and Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Ngunyi.
Beyond zero campaign through its activities has managed to mobilize Kenyans from different specs of life.
Either tall, short, young, rich or poor it mobilization team is doing good when it comes to resource lobbying.
The campaign has been seen collecting a lot of resources from different aspects, either through registration or donations.
At some point, the deputy president is seen donating 17million to the course, other parastatals both public or private seen donating millions.
The beyond zero campaign is seen as a project of the big wits as clearly it involves around the wealthiest in Kenya.
