The Bonchari residents are in sorrows following the passing away of their Member of parliament John Oloo Oyioka. The lawmaker passed away on Monday evening of February 15, 2020.
It is reported the MP has been ailing for quite sometime. Confirming the news, the family said he died at the Aga Khan hospital, Kisumu County where he had been admitted.
The Bonchari legislator was elected to parliament in 2013 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after the High Court considered a petition he had filed against then winner Zebedeo Opore.
The judges nullified Opore’s victory under election malpractice laws. He served for a period of six months after which the Court of Appeal overturned the decision made by the High Court thus losing to Opore.
However, in 2017, Oyioka made a comeback and defeated Opore to claim the Bonchari seat.
He has become the fifth politician to pass away in the last 3 months after the late Governor Yusuf Haji who was laid to rest the same day yesterday as per their customs.
