Charity Ngilu in court over karen land saga freed on sh 1milion cash bail

Suspended Lands CS Charity Ngilu is currently in court over allegedly hindering investigations into the Karen land saga.

She was accompanied by supporters including Cord co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka.

Ngilu presented herself to EACC on Wednesday evening after DPP Keriako Tobiko approved her prosecution over obstructing investigations into the land scam.

The EACC says that she directed her ministry’s officials not to release documents or record statements with investigators.

Tobiko said he found the charge, concerning the 134-acre piece of land, sustainable after reviewing evidence submitted by the EACC.

Ngilu becomes the second CS in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government to be charged, following investigations ordered by the head of state.

She has maintained her innocence saying there exists a cartel in the Lands ministry that is eager to get her out of the way because of her reforms.
