A couple in Uasin Gishu County was arrested after admitting that they had killed their daughter and hiding the body.
The couple said their child, Victoren Chelagat, was disabled and was a big hindrance to their new marriage.
The neighbours, after failing to see the child for a couple of days informed the Olengusa Chief, Samuel Kibiwott, who then paid a visit to the couple.
“I asked them where their child was, and they lied that her aunt had gone with her to her house. It took some time before I could make contact with her. But when I eventually did, she told me that the child wasn’t in their house,” Kibiwott said.
The chief went back to the couple’s house several times to interrogate them. That is when the wife admitted that they had killed the child and buried him in Shingalo forest and took him to the area where they had buried the child.
The couple is now in custody waiting for their case to be presented in court on Monday, September 28.
