Dr David Njeng’ere Kabita appointed as new KNEC Chief Executive Officer

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has appointed Dr David Njeng’ere Kabita as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), for a period of five years.

Dr. Njegere succeeds Mercy Karogo, who has been serving as acting CEO since 2016.

He will assume office on July 1, 2021, according to a statement by KNEC’s Chair Dr John Onsati.

“The Council advertised the position of Chief Executive Officer in April 2021. Upon completing all the necessary recruitment procedures, and following the due process, the Council is proud to announce that Dr. David Njeng’ere Kabita has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of KNEC, effective July 1st, 2021 for a term of five years,” the Press statement said.

Dr. Njeng’ere is currently an advisor to Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha, a job he has held for the past three years.

According to the Education World Forum, Dr Njeng’ere has previously served as Deputy Director at both the Kenya National Examinations and the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development.

The educationist with over 30 years experience is also a specialist in curriculum design and assessment.
