Five family members died on Saturday morning, May 8, in a tragic accident on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.
Peter Maina, regional Coastal Traffic Commander, confirmed the incident stating that the car they were in collided with a truck in the Taru area.
Police added that four other people were injured and rushed to hospital.
The unfortunate incident came just a day after five more people lost their lives while several others were seriously injured in a road accident in Mariakani, along the Kilifi-Mombasa highway.
The incident involved a trailer and hearse colliding head-on, leaving two people dead in place.
Police Chief Ezekiel Chepkwony said three other people died of injuries at Mariakani hospital.
