A massive fire broke out at Blue Estate in Shauri Moyo, Nairobi, on Tuesday night, which destroyed a number of buildings.
The residents could not contain the fire since it is said to have spread very quickly because the houses are close to each other.
Dominic Mwangi, who was present at the scene during the incident, said that some of the firefighters had to put out the fire from the Administration Police camp since they could not access the burning houses.
Mwangi added the fire is suspected to have been caused by an electrical fault.
“The fire started at around 5 p.m, right now the Nairobi City County firefighters are battling to put out the fire but it is almost being contained. Investigations have been launched into the cause of the fire but residents suspect that it was caused by an electrical fault,” Mwangi said.
The fire caused traffic on adjacent estate roads as residents and firefighters tried to put off the fire.
A number of residents are now stranded without a place to sleep after their homes burned to the ground.
