Fuel Prices Expected To Rise In August Review

In the August review by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA), fuel prices are expected to rise this August.

Price per litre of Petrol is set to rise up by sh 3.32 while Diesel will go up by sh 2.57, according to reports by the Business Daily.

This mean retail price per litre for petrol will be sh 103.80 in Nairobi from the current price sh 100.48. Diesel price per litre will be sold at 94.44 from the current sh 91.87.

It is said the increase in prices could be accredited to the implementation of petrol tax at sh 5.40 from sh 0.40.

However in a leaked memo of the Ministry of Energy, EPRA accredits the shoot in prices to the recovery of crude oil prices.

Last month, the prices of petrol, Diesel and kerosene rose by sh 11.38, sh 17.30 and sh 2.98 respectively being the highest rise since 2007.
