A senate oversight committee has requested Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai to arrest and present Murang’a Governor, Mwangi Wa Iria for defying its summons.
He was also fined sh 500,000 by the County Public Accounts and Investment Committee for disobeying its summons.
It had issued an arrest warrant for Mwangi after he failed to appear before it for the third time to respond to audit questions.
The senate committee chaired by Kisii senator, Sam Ongeri want him arrested and be brought before the committee on 10 September, 2020.
“In view that the governor came under summons last year and this year, he has failed to honour the summons. I order that this committee summons under police escort Governor Mwangi Wa Iria be produced by IG physically to the committee room on September 10, 2020,” said Sam Ongeri.
