Thika High School will set itself far above other public schools in Kenya when it becomes part-owner of the Ksh.100 million ultra-modern stadium.
A report by Business Daily on Wednesday, December 2, indicated that the school had sealed a deal with Mt Kenya University to put up the facility.
The facility, which will be located in Thika, will occupy 12 acres of land and will contain an indoor arena and a sports field.
Peter Waweru, who supervises the students and alumni affairs at the university, revealed that Thika High School provided the land and Mt Kenya would help develop it.
He also noted that both institutions would have access to the facility and would make money by leasing it out.
“Thika High School had the land but they did not have the resources to develop it and since we have previously collaborated with them on many areas, we saw the need to develop the idle land into a sporting field that will have an indoor arena that can host football, hockey among other sporting activities.
“The facility will also act as a platform to bring in an extra revenue to the school since they can hire out the venue to the public for meetings, weddings, or any other activity that requires a vast compound,” Waweru stated.
