As the world cheerfully waits for the Valentines next weekend,a “couple” in the United Arab Emirates will just have to enjoy the valentines, not in the arms of each other, but on the cold floors and walls of the jails after a one month jail term sentence was passed for allegedly being so much in love with one another.
The two were convicted for living together out of wedlock after the lady had run away from home just to be with the man she loves and escape being married away by her parents who had found another suitor for her.
According to the police investigation, the man asked his girlfriend to leave her family home in Ajman, so that they could get married.The family reported the sad news of her disappearance to the police with the lady’s father claiming that her daughter had run away because she was threatened by her boyfriend.
After three weeks, the couple turned themselves in to police, and said that they want to marry each other and assured the officers that they did not have sex.The woman also said she wanted to marry her boyfriend and she ran away from home because her father wants her to marry someone else.
When they were turned up for a court session,it was ruled that both of them should serve a one month jail term for being so much in love with one another and staying together before marriage.
