ViacomCBS Networks Africa and YouTube in partnership with Idris Elba are hosting an “Africa Day Benefit Concert At Home” that its main aim will be to help the children and families within Africa who have seen the worst side of the Pandemic and have been worst hit by it.
The benefit concert will be made available after Africa day to encourage people and organisations to donate. The donation process will be clarified farther in the days that are to come as the event day is set to happen on the Monday of May 25th.
It will be a 2 hour special event that will be streamed across MTV and MTV Base Africa YouTube channel. With Idris Elba as the host, the show will bring together among them the biggest names the African music industry has to offer. From Nasty C to Burna Boy to Stonebwoy and even Sauti Sol will be among the stars who will grace fans with their performances.
Idris Elba was more suited to host such an event as earlier within the year he was diagnosed with having the Corona Virus but later emerged from his quarantine stronger still.
In a post he said, “Taking a moment to shine a light on African arts to benefit the African homeland and its people. A continent of this size should find a way to dig deep and stand up for one another at a time like this. It’s important for the future and history will not forget.”
With amazing performances from stars of the likes of Burna Boy, Sho Madjozi, AKA, Diamond Platnumz, Sauti Sol, Yemi Alade, Fally Ipupa, Stonebwoy, Teni and Angelique Kidjo it sure will be a home concert to look out for.
