“I’m Justin. I’m from Stratford, Ontario, Canada. I’m an artist. I make music,” said Justin Bieber in the opening scenes of his new 10-part YouTube documentary series, Justin Bieber: Seasons, it’s a reintroduction of sorts for the global pop star.

The new documentary series about Justin Bieber is YouTube’s most expensive deal to date, and it seems the lofty price tag may already be paying off. The first episode of the series, “Justin Bieber: Seasons,

That makes the series’ premiere the most-watched YouTube Originals debut since the platform started creating its own content in 2016.

YouTube reportedly spent more than $20 million to secure the 10-part series, which is the most the platform has dropped for content in its effort to take on streaming giants like Netflix and YouTube. During the L.A. playback of the new album, Bieber described the project as telling his story of “growth from a boy to a man.” The first episode of Seasons hammers home this narrative, focusing on the “good head space” of its protagonist, while also teasing songs heavily inspired by Bieber’s recent marriage.
Bieber was first discovered on YouTube when he was 12 by Braun and Usher. In 2015 he went ahead and released his fifth studio album Purpose.

“Early on in his career, we’d always say ‘Let’s go for another one, let’s go for another hit, another record, another thing, another tour,’” Braun said. “Before Purpose with journals , I didn’t want him to tour. I wanted him to get healthy. Then he got healthy and we went on Purpose . Then at the end, he was tired…I don’t put any pressures on that timeline anymore.”

The documentary opens with Bieber’s surprise announcement that he was canceling his Purpose tour in the summer of 2017, but there is little explanation of the causes. Some of the same faces from the Never Say Never doc are trotted out again, including managers Braun and Allison Kaye and friend and creative director Ryan Good, and they’re now joined by Hailey Bieber herself. The entourage’s insight into Bieber is couched in the kind of generalities that one would hope such a documentary series would flesh out.

Critics say that the series doesn’t really go into the life of the musician as should, some say that its only main aim is to push his forthcoming album which is actually true, but still we have to give the kid credit for trying to show the struggles he has gone through. Already his seasons is a hit after breaking a record, just like he broke the record in YouTube yet again after garnering over 50 million subscribers on his YouTube channel. Whether its enough for you or not will totally depend on how u see it.

Forthcoming episodes of Seasons are supposed to feature unseen footage from his wedding and Bieber’s discussion of dealing with mono and Lyme disease. “People are drawn to him because he has a story to tell,” says Hailey Bieber at one point.
