Kenya National Teachers Union (KNUT) officials have called On president Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene in a dispute between the Union and the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

Speaking to the press on Sunday, 29 November, KNUT National Treasurer John Matiang’i noted that the Commission had formed a scheme to further intensify the financial troubles of the Union.

“Your excellency, the President, I appeal to you as the father of the teachers of this country, take up this matter by yourself.

“The obituary of this union should not be written when you are the Head of State,” John Matiang’i stated.

He also criticized the commission for giving promotions and increasing wages to lure teachers to quit the union.

The row between KNUT and TSC has been an ongoing fight for dominance, as the latter has been blamed for obstructing the Union’s activities, forcing 110 offices around the country to be shut down.
