On Sunday, 15 November, Kenya Railways Corporation was forced to provide clarity on a fake work advertisement that surfaced the internet on Sunday, November 15.

In a statement, Kenya Railways urged all Kenyans to neglect the advertisement that promised to pay Ksh5,000 per day to successful applicants.

“We wish to advise the general public to ignore the fake job advert circulating on social media.

“Members of the public are cautioned to be extra vigilant and not to be quick to click on suspicious links,” stated  Kenya Railways.

The advert guaranteed work at the Kenya Railway Corporation with applicants who made the cut set to earn between Ksh500 and Ksh1,000 per day.

The advertisement, however, set out a number of conditions which would collect the personal details of the candidates.

The information included  gender, age, contact details and name of the city or city and the process was exclusively online.
