Linnet Kathambi, a mother of three, is a businesswoman from Kikuyu, Kiambu County, with investments in the timber and real estate business.

On Monday, 21 December 2020, the 30-year-old alleged that her path to the top was not laid for her. She had to fight for it.

Kathambi was born in Imenti Central, Meru County. She attended Mwirine Primary School, before joining Kinjo Girls High School for her secondary education.

“l did not go to college. After high school, life was tough. I got a job back in Meru where I worked as an attendant at a timber yard. The business went under and that is how I lost the job.

“Being a go-getter, l decided to join my sister who lived in Nairobi. My objective was to’ tarmac’ in an effort to make ends meet,” Linnet narrated.

Her first job in Nairobi was hawking goods. She would buy things from Kamukunji and hawk them back in Zimmerman estate where she lived.

She got married in 2011 and with the little money she had saved and support from her husband, they launched an open-air timber yard in Kikuyu Town named Sung Timber and Products.

The company now has a range of trucks that supply building and construction materials to different parts of the country.
