Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has given a warning to the people of Nairobi who are travelling up country during the Christmas holidays.
The CS claimed that regular upcountry travels will lead to an increase in coronavirus cases, keeping in mind that Nairobi has been reporting high numbers.
“Don’t take the virus from Nairobi to upcountry where our elderly parents are, we can enjoy the holidays where we are and ensure that we don’t spread the disease further,” the CS stated.
In addition, he cautioned the drivers of Public Service Vehicles (PSV) against ferrying more passengers than is required in order to make more money over the holiday season.
“Some drivers and touts may be guided by their greed and opt to ferry more passengers; we will not allow this as it will worsen the pandemic,” he added.
Mutahi Kagwe stated that confiscated vehicles would only be released in January, after Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
