Still on artists singing about Lupita well, a new rap freestyle by New Orleans MC Jay Electronica featuring Jay Z was released this week. On the track, entitled “We Made It,” Jay Z shout-outs to Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o and the film that made her a star.

Jay Z: 

I’m on my Lupita Nyong’o,

Stuntin’ on stage after 12 Years A Slave,

This Ace of Spades look like an Oscar,

Black tux, look like a mobster.

It’s rare that Jay Z mentions any girl in his music these days besides his wife and daughter so his Lupita reference was both exciting and surprising. Besides, what better way for Lupita to be welcomed into the hip hop community than through a rap by Jay Z?
