On Thursday, December 10, a family in Kiambu got a bit of relief following the release of the body of their relative which had been detained for three months in Saudi Arabia.

The deceased, the Late Agnes Wangui had worked in Saudi Arabia and had visited her parents in Kenya in 2020 after several years.

Wangui’s remains were kept in Arrar for three months, about 1,200 kilometers away from the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, with details of her body being concealed from her family.

Nominated Senator Issac Mwaura was notified of the matter and made time to visit the family.

“They were in deep pain, especially the mother, only pleading to have the body back in order to give her a decent burial. Noting what needed to be done, I swung into action, and at some point, some officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were at a loss, and I had to escalate the matter to higher authorities,” Isaac Mwaura Stated.

The family received Wangui’s body in the early hours of Thursday morning ahead of the burial scheduled on Friday, December 11th.
