KNUT secretary-general Wilson Sossion has written to the Teachers Service Commission to restructure their work plan in consideration to the Global pandemic.
With a directive from the president that gradual opening of schools might start in September, Sosssion suggested that all teachers and learners should be provided with proper protective gear that would protect that two parties and curb the spread of COVID 19.
He also proposed that schools and colleges that were used as testing, ground and isolation or quarantine centres be fumigated and sanitized by Public Health Officers before schools are opened.
The KNUT secretary general suggested that the staffing of teacher that was used before on the ratio of one teacher to 50 learners should be scaled down to 1:20 citing that this will help combat the coronavirus pandemic and enact the aspect of social distancing.
Mr Sossion touched on the teacher’s salary and the ease of localizing teachers to work around there respective home areas.
