Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) secretary General Akelo Misori, has challenged the Education CS Magoha’s plan on reopening schools early.

He said the reopening of schools this year would greatly affect the school calendar and he agrees with the 2021 decision they had earlier on made.

“Any agitation to have schools open earlier than 2021 has got far-reaching challenges than if we wait till 2021. Many schools closed in March there were only about two or three weeks for schools to close. If we open schools in October, it means that we will be our second term and run till January, which is a policy shifter. The school calendar and academic year changes,” he argued.

The cs had asked parents and students to brace themselves as schools would resume immediately the curve flattens in a fortnight or three weeks time.

He further asked the government to consider adding of more classes in schools to enhance social distancing upon resumption.
