The Lebanon’s leaders have designated the country’s ambassador to Germany, Mustapha Adib as the new Prime Minister.
His designation came hours before the arrival of French President Macron Emmanuel in Beruit.
“There is no time for talk, promises and wishes. It is a time for action,” said Mustapha in a short affirmation speech from the presidential palace.
It is reported after his address, the PM-designate made his way to neighborhoods of Gemmayze and Mar Mkhayel which were greatly destroyed by the blast that tore through Beruit.
Adib’s designation came a day ahead of September 1 deadline set by Macron Emmanuel for “political change” as he is set to land in Beruit to mark centennial anniversary of greater Lebanon, the precursor for modern state that was established by France.
