Amidst  the global pandemic covid-19 that has reign terror on earth leading to over 21,000 deaths and much more people being affected, some Kenyan legislators have decided to donate part of their salary in combating the disease.

This came after President Kenyatta gave a press statement declaring an 80% salary reduction to both his deputy William Ruto, and himself.

Cabinet secretaries and permanent assistant salaries were also cut by 30%. The idea is to channel these funds in fighting Covid-19.

In the wake of this declaration by the president, other legislators like Babu Owino aka Paul Ongili, national assembly speaker Justine Muturi and the senate speaker Ken Lusaka also vowed to take salary cut.

Babu Owino wrote a letter to the national speaker Justine Muturi for his salary to be cut in half.

The legislator later took on twitter shared a picture of the letter and wrote that half of his salary to be used to combat covid-19.
