Bee Attack

A football game in Tanzania between Yanga and Iringa was disrupted when a swarm of bees entered the pitch from nowhere and started attacking players.

The Kenyan goalkeeper Farouk Shikalo who was busy at the goal post said he wasn’t aware of the bee’s presence. Claiming that he only saw his team mates lying down not knowing what was happening.

In footage that captured the incident, Shikalo and other players on the pitch are seen running for safety as the bees descend on some of the players in the pitch.

At some point, Shikalo is seen raising his arm as if appealing for help from people.

Shikalo is a well known Kenyan player and has on several occasions been part of the Harambee Stars squad, including the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The game took a temporary stoppage as the bees took control of the pitch.

Yanga won the game by knocking off Iringa 4 – 0. The match was played at Uhuru Stadium.
