The Migori governor Okoth Obado, has been released on sh 8.7 million cash bail or sh 20 million bond after denying all charges of graft.

He appeared before chief magistrate Lawrence Mugambi on Monday 31 August where in his bail ruling, the magistrate ordered he be barred from accessing Migori county offices until the case is done.

The governor will however be escorted to pick his personal items from the offices. Police officers were also directed to present Identification numbers of the accused to the Immigration Department who will block their departure from the country.

The prosecution argued that the governor had a pending murder case and should not be granted bail.

However, his lawyer Kioko Kilumu said the lawmaker cannot run away from authority claiming he had presented himself to the Kisii EACC offices when he had a chance to escape to Tanzania which is miles away from Migori.

The governor and his four children were also directed to leave their passports in court.
