A Kenyan high school principal has received the 2020 Continental Teacher of the Year Award from the African Union.
On Monday, December 21, Jane Kamiti, Principal of Othaya Girls High School, was named the best teacher at the event held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia .
The principal was honored for her initiatives to boost the quality of learning and also for ensuring that learners meet high standards in projects.
She was also commended for participating in events and forums that improve the social and cultural importance of learning. Jane also assisted her learners attain their long-term career objectives by coordinating interaction with related agencies and information.
The Othaya Girls High School principal was also honored for the implementation of e-learning through Information Communication Technology (ICT) in the school in 2019.
Jane Kamiti joins the list of other Kenyan teachers who have won international awards among them Peter Tabichi and Eric Ademba.
