Kenyan motorists will no longer be enjoying low prices of fuel as petrol and diesel costs pick up by Sh 11.38 and 17.30 respectively.

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has assigned the rise in pump prices to an increase in the landed cost of fuel imports which has also seen kerosene costs rise by Kshs 2.98.

“The changes in this month’s prices are as a result of the average landed cost of imported super petrol increasing by 12.64 percent in June and diesel increasing by 32.16 percent,” noted EPRA in a statement on Tuesday.

Just after the announcement on fuel prices, motorists flocked petrol stations on a bid to clinch the last fuel price before the changes commence.

One litre of petrol in Nairobi is now Ksh 100 and will retail at Ksh 100.48 from Wednesday 15 July while costs to diesel and kerosene will rise to Ksh 91.87 and Ksh 65.45 per litre respectively.
