Police officers are searching for criminals who tried to break into the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices in Magunga Township.
The suspects are said to have tried to break the door but stopped when they noticed a police officer had seen them.
The suspects were targeting other offices including Magunga Youth Empowerment Centre, Magunga Health Centre and shops in the area.
Security officers in the area complained that there has been an increase in the number of break-ins, particularly in the case of government institutions and private enterprises.
“We are getting crucial leads that will enable us to apprehend the suspects soon,” Suba Deputy County Commissioner Joseph Maina stated.
The thieves tried to break into DCI offices despite the fact that the investigative body is responsible for collecting and providing criminal intelligence and undertaking investigations on serious crimes.
The incident came just days after three women in Kianyaga, Kirinyaga county were caught on camera stealing from a local supermarket.
