A police officer based at Gigiri’s Nyari Police Patrol Base was arrested on Tuesday, December 29 evening, after shooting his friend in Westlands area, Nairobi.
The officer had been deployed as a station guard moments before he was joined by his friend who visits the patrol base frequently.
“With an AK47 rifle, the officer had been deployed as a station guard moments before he was joined by his regular friend, and who frequents at the patrol base located in Nairobi’s Westlands area,” read a statement from the DCI.
The two were chewing miraa and hours later, a blast of shots was heard where they were located.
The officer in charge at the base rushed to the scene to find out what was going on and found the lifeless body of the victim at the driver’s seat of his Toyota Probox.
Preliminary results showed that the officer fired 10 rounds of ammunition. Detectives have launched investigations to establish the reason behind the shooting.
