Pop Smoke, real name Bashar Barakah Jackson, an American rapper and songwriter was shot dead in his home by unmasked gunmen who haven’t been identified yet. Fans were extremely shook to hear about the tragic passing of New York City hip-hop sensation, Pop Smoke. This Wednesday morning, officials confirmed that he was shot in a masked gunman in a Hollywood Hills home.


Department captain Steve Lurie, at least one individual wore a black mask with a handgun. Immediately after being taken to the hospital, the only twenty-year-old (20) rapper was sadly pronounced dead. The crime was an apparent robbery.


His Instagram story shows him filming his shopping bags while he flaunted his new items, but for a brief second his Hollywood address was visible on the screen. His account now has 1.3million followers, so hundreds of thousands of people likely saw his address in the lead up to the break-in.

And it could have been how his murderers were able to track him down and shoot him, critically injuring him before fleeing on foot.
A Twitter user wrote: “Pop Smoke had accidentally posted his address on Instagram last night showing his Amiri bags. The story is deleted now but the address was clear as day..Somebody saw it on his IG & took it as an opportunity to rob him. Rest easy pop smoke.”


Just minutes before his death, he used his Twitter account to reply to a meme on the app with laughing face emojis. He also replied to a viral TikTok video with star emojis, showing he was likely relaxing at home flicking through his timeline prior to the robbery.


Nicki Minaj was one of the first to comment on the 20-year-old’s death. She posted on her Instagram, “The Bible tells us that jealousy is as cruel as the grave.

Unbelievable. Rest In Peace, Pop.” 50 cent too to twitter and posted “R.I.P to my man Pop Smoke, No sympathy for winners. God bless him.” Then to Instagram he posted, “No such thing as success with out jealousy, treachery comes from those who are close. R.i.P” The rap legend served as a mentor to the 20-year-old.


Chance wrote on Twitter, “Rest Up Pop Smoke, you were too young. God Bless and comfort your family. What a crazy trajectory .” Chance had also been a mentor to the late Pop Smoke. Its such a tragedy to loose an upcoming artist cause its evident he still had a lot to show for his talent. May he rest in peace.
