Prime suspect in the abduction and murder of Shantel Nzembi has been detained for seven days to allow detectives to complete their investigations.

Nativity Mutindi will remain under the custody of Kitengela police station after the prosecution successfully made an application at the Kajiado law courts.

Mutindi was arraigned alongside another suspect, Patrick Mureithi, but both never took plea. They appeared before resident magistrate Edwin Mulochi on Monday, May 7.

According to the charge sheet, Mureithi fraudulently registered the sim card used to demand a ransom from the deceased’s mother, Christine Ngena, after she went missing from her house in Kitengela, Kajiado county, a few weeks ago.

So far, four suspects have been arraigned in court in connection with the murder. The others are boda boda operator Livingstone Makacha and Francis Mbuthia.

Makacha was found in possession of the mobile phone that was used to register the sim card, while Mutindi was found in possession of the sim card.
