Rapper Smallz Lethal arrested over song lyrics criticizing Kisii governor

Rapper Smallz Lethal was arrested after he sang a song criticizing Kisii governor James Ongwae. His song  “I’m Offended” has gone viral on YouTube.

He was arrested yesterday at about 4:00pm at his apartment Kisii town and was taken to Kisii Police Station for interrogation.

While in custody he was informed that he was under custody for defaming Governor James Ongwae through his Rap video commentary on the corruption in Kisii county.

The police demanded that he should delete the video from YouTube in exchange for an unspecified amount of money that included the cost of making the video. Smallz Lethal declined the offer.

Yesterday, Dennis Itumbi twitted lamenting on why the rapper was arrested. He wrote;

Earlier today, DCI officials arrested a Kisii based rapper. The offence was dubbed Criminal Defamation on Kisii Governor. Thank you for introducing the artist, but we were supposed to be paying artists and not arresting them,” wrote Dennis Itumbi

Smallz has now been released after hours of interrogations and had this to say;
