On Monday, November 30, Deputy President William Ruto responded to confusion surrounding his support for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.

Ruto declared his authority after one of the local newspapers ran a story claiming that he had been cornered to support the BBI report.

“Cornered?? Not as easy as you think my friends. Scaling the stairs while chewing a gum we do without a problem. It’s never too late to do the right thing. Tremendous progress achieved. Consensus on remaining Issues & Process so as to have Non-Divisive vote best Option,” Ruto stated.

Ruto affirmed his previous stand of consensus on some of the controversial issues in the report after he appeared to support it on Saturday.

The Jubilee Deputy Party Leader stated that he had a constitutional obligation to assist President Uhuru Kenyatta and to welcome the changes included in the report.
