Shabana Fc defender has died after a friendly match with a non-league side football club.
The 33-year-old Victor Obutu Omoke incurred stomach injuries after colliding with the opponent side goalkeeper in a match played at Gesure Primary School grounds in Nyamira County. This led to the stoppage of the match in the 40 minutes time.
He was rushed to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH) but was not attended to since doctors are on strike.
He was then referred to Nyangena hospital, a private health facility the same day where he was treated and discharged.
His condition worsened on Sunday and was rushed to Nyangena where he was booked for an operation.
His brother Jasper Marube noted, Victor passed away on Monday night immediately after the operation.
Victor Obutu was on loan from Posta rangers. May his soul rest in peace.
