Orange democratic movement has issued a stan warning to supporters posing as the party consultants bidding to shape the coming by-election.
This was after the party secretary-general, Edwin Sifuna received intel that there were imposters conducting party activities on the basis of selecting a suitable candidate to lead the ODM brigade in Msambweni by-election.
“We wish to make it clear that the party has not dispatched any one on such an assignment or any other assignment in the constituency,” Mr Sifuna said in a statement.
“Any person claiming otherwise should be treated as a con and reported to the nearest police station.”
The secretary-general urged members in the ODM fraternity to be calm as they await Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) guidelines and way forward.
Wafula Chebukati said they were ready at the time but the Covid-19 pandemic posed challenges.
The Msambweni seat fell vacant after MP Suleiman Dori died of cancer at the Aga Khan Hospital in Mombasa March 9, 2020.
