The famed comedian and actor Ben Maurice Onyango but popularly known as Othuol Othuol, passed away on Sunday. According to a fellow comedian and a close friend of Othuol, he claimed that they tried reaching out for help from fellow comedians but they did not respond.
“We needed Sh8,000 to hire an ambulance for him to be transferred to KNH, and so I sent a message in the official comedians’ WhatsApp group, which has over 200 people, yet people could not raise that,” 2mbili was quoted saying.
The comedian 2mbili also said that during Othuol’s stay at the hospital, less than 5 fellow comedians came to visit him. 2mbili had sent out a text to Othuol’s friends and family and fellow comedians to notify them that Othuol has been taken back to hospital.
“Othuol was very weak in his last days, he could not talk, eat or even do anything by himself. He had also lost his memory,”
2Mbili said. “Othuol was in hospital but he was not attended to, despite having a band in his hand to indicate he was an important person in the society. The many times I visited him, there was no doctor attending to him.” He added.
The death of the comedian saw Churchill trending once again over the death of a comedian who worked under him leaving fans questioning Churchill.
