A week ago, Jemima Oresha drowned at the Thompsons falls in Nyahururu while trying to pose for pictures in what was termed as photo session with his brother.
Her body has finally been retrieved after it was spotted by villagers on 5 August. Nyahururu sub-county Deputy Commissioner, Patrick Muli said the body was spotted downstream the river 5 kilometres from the place of the incident.
A search team composed of KWS officers, Emergency team from the county and Red cross had been on the look out for the body.
“The body was spotted by villagers in Rwathia on the banks of the river. The residents informed the police and the body was retrieved,” said Patrick.
“The terrain has been a major challenge for the search team as no one could dive into the river because of strong currents and unclear water,” he added.
Muli appealed to residents and visitors to be cautious while at the site as the river is swollen due to the rains.
