Twitter has finally given its users mandate to choose who can reply to their tweets as a new feature is introduced.
The feature is said to help better conversations and limits one to getting exposed to online abusers and bullies.
“Sometimes people are more comfortable talking about what’s happening when they can choose who can reply. We’ve seen people use these settings to have conversations that weren’t really possible before. Starting today, everyone will be able to use these settings so unwanted replies don’t get in the way of meaningful conversations,” Twitter wrote.
It’s now clear all accounts including those of elected officials; a feature that twitter introduced recently for easy demarcation can now select the people to interact with.
Users can select from three sets; (a) everyone, (b) only people they follow and (c) only people you mention; meaning before tweeting users will be able to chose who they can reply in the three sets.
