Two police officers were arrested on Sunday, October 25, in Likuyani, Kakamega county in connection with the suspected murder of Denis Lusava.

Lusava was arrested on Wednesday, October 7 for allegedly not wearing a face mask, but according to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspect was arrested for assaulting a police officer.

He was released on a free bond after filing a P3 form. He went missing shortly after, and his body was later discovered in River Nzoia

After an autopsy was conducted suggesting possible murder, a DCI statement confirmed the arrest of the two police officers.

“Two police officers based at Mbururu Police Post, Kakamega County have been arrested by DCI Homicide detectives in the ongoing investigations into the suspected murder of Dennis Lusava.

“Their arrest follows the body’s discovery, examination and autopsy report which suggested a possible homicide before the victim’s body was dumped into River Nzoia. Both in our custody for investigative interviewing,” read the statement.

According to reports, the suspect was tortured by police officers with five anti-riot clubs and two electrical cables.
