Ethiopian Attorney General on Tuesday ordered an immediate release of Kenyan Journalist Yassin Juma, who has been under Ethiopian authorities’detention for almost 3 months now.
Yassin’s lawyer Abdulletif Amee while narrating to the Nation said the Federal Attorney General’s office claimed the Kenyan journalist was wrongfully arrested.
“According to the office of the Attorney General, Juma was detained wrongfully arrested because of language barrier,” Amee said.
Juma had continued to be detained even after court gave an order of his release and him depositing bail of $85 as directed.
His continued detention caused uproar among Kenyan activists, global rights bodies Human Rights Watch and even committee to protect journalists to intervene and demand his release.
