25-year jail term or Ksh.20M fine for anyone who shares pornography

Garissa MP Aden Duale has tabled a Bill that will see anyone who shares any pornographic materials on the internet jailed for 25 years or pay Ksh 20M fine

The bill States, “A person shall not knowingly publish pornography through a computer system, produce pornography for the purpose of its publication through a computer system, download, distribute, circulate, sell or make it available in anyway from a telecommunications apparatus pornography”.

The Bill tabled proposes to amend the cyber crimes act to prevent sharing of pornographic materials on the internet protecting the minors from explicit content.

The Bill further seeks to prohibit using of electronic medium to promote terrorism, cult activities and extreme religious activities.

Anyone who commits this offense shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding Ksh. 5million or face a 10 year jail term or both.
