Alarm Raised As 155 Kenyans Die In Road Accidents Within 10 Days

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has raised an alarm over a report stating that road accidents have caused a loss of at least 155 people over the last 10 days.

The Authority’s statistics indicate that the number of deaths have increased compared to the same time last year when 107 people died in road accidents in the same timeframe.

Statistics recorded by the police and the NTSA show that the number of road accidents between January and December this year is 3,663 compared to 3,508 during the same period last year.

The statistics indicate an annual rise of 9.4% in deaths compared to the previous year. Between January and December 13, 2020, 3,663 people died on the road compared to 3,348 last year a difference of 215 fatalities.

According to NTSA, fewer deaths of pedestrians and passengers were recorded compared to 2019.
