On Wednesday morning, December 16, independent candidate Feisal Bader was proclaimed winner of the parliamentary seat of Msambweni by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Feisal Bader garnered 15,251 votes, beating Omar Boga from ODM, who came second with 10,444 votes.

Yusuf Abubakar, the IEBC Returning Officer, issued a certificate to Feisal in the midst of the applaud from DP Ruto’s supporters.

“I declare Feisal Abder as the winner and the elected MP for Msambweni Constituency,” stated the returning officer.

Bader was on the lead from the time IEBC began to count the votes from 129 polling stations in the constituency.

The independent candidate succeeded his uncle, Suleiman Dori, who died on Monday, March 9.

The win is in favor of DP Ruto and his allies who went against the Jubilee party line that decided to support ODM’s candidate Omar Boga.
