Anne Kananu Takes Over As Acting Nairobi Governor

Newly sworn-in Nairobi Deputy Governor Ann Kananu Mwenda has taken over as the acting Nairobi Governor from Speaker Benson Mutura.

Kananu’s take over as the new Nairobi county Boss comes barely three days after being sworn in as Nairobi Deputy Governor.

In her acceptance speech, Kananu stated that she is not a politician and she will work on boosting cooperation and collaboration in the region.

“I am not a politician, and I will not start being one. I’m focused on bringing a new spirit of cooperation, collaboration, partnership and mutual respect with all organs of government. Nairobi is now back on course,” she stated.

She further promised that appointments would be made within 14 days, even as a team is working on a process likely to see her assume office as acting governor.

“We have the assumption of the Office of Governor, Committee that is working on the process of swearing in. We will communicate,” she added.
